PropertyValue
overview Dr. Joshua Rosenthal is an assistant professor at the Institute of Neurobiogy, part of the University of Puerto Rico’s Medical Sciences Campus. His research focuses on the process of RNA editing and how it recodes key molecules in the nervous system. Current projects look at how editing changes the properties of ion pumps and voltage-dependent ion channels and examine how the editing enzymes themselves target their mRNA substrates. Dr. Rosenthal received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Haverford College. He received a Ph.D. in Biology from Stanford University with Dr. William Gilly as a mentor. He then went on to complete postdoctoral training at UCLA with Dr. Francisco Bezanilla. He has over twenty publications in scientific journals and has been supported by both the National Institute of Health and the National Science Foundation. Dr. Rosenthal’s research has been conducted at diverse sites including Chile, California, Venezuela, Baja California, Newfoundland, Scotland, the Svalbard archipelago and Antarctica.
